About Support at Home
Support at Home (SAH) is the Australian Government’s new program. It will replace the current
Home Care Packages and Short-Term Restorative Care programs from 1 November 2025 and
aims to improve the way aged care services are delivered across Australia.
Looking ahead, further changes are planned for aged care. The Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) will transition into the Support at Home model in 2027, aligning with the broader reforms to make in-home care simpler and more effective.
Ahead of this, price caps will be introduced in July 2026 to promote fairness, transparency, and consistency in provider fees. These steps are part of a phased approach to build a more streamlined and equitable aged care system for everyone.
