Posted: 5th June 2025

On 4th June 2025 the Australian Government has announced that the new Aged Care Act will now commence on  1st November 2025, instead of the originally planned date 1st July 2025. This delay allows more time for careful planning and consultation, ensuring older Australians, their families, and providers are well-prepared for the transition.

When does Support at Home start?

The Support at Home (SAH) program is a new government system that will replace the current  Home Care Package (HCP) program. Instead of starting on 1st July 2025, it will now begin on 1st November 2025.

Why was Support at Home delayed?

The Government has delayed the start of the program to November to give everyone - older people, families, and care providers - more time to get ready. They listened to feedback and made this change to make sure the switch to the new system is smooth, safe, and well-organised. It’s a good decision that puts your care and wellbeing first.
